SUNROOF TRIM - VOLKSWAGEN (1Q0-871-943-D-88U)
I just got around to replacing mine the other day. The padding on the back was separating and cracking.I purchased the part from http://www.expressoemparts.com.It is part number: 1Q0-871-943-D-88U, got it for $348.10 with the shipping. It takes less than an hour to replace once you figured out how everything goes together. With the roof closed, remove the headliner starting at the front corners(the corners slide out of a plastic guide the reset of the headliner is slid into a groove), the back portion of the headliner does not need to be removed. Then remove the plastic bracket that holds the headliner to the roof, it is held up by 4 T20 bolts and 1 T30 scew. Once the plastic bracket is out of the way you will see 4 bowden cables spiraling out of a gear box. At this point Lower the roof into Service Position. Then remove the 2 T20 bolts and seperate the bowden cables at the gear box. This allows the sunshade to be removed. Just slide the old one out and slide the new one in. The ends of the bowden cables rest against a plastic tab on the top of the sunshade, so when the sunshade is about halfway in, push the bowden cables back in after those tabs. With the new sunshade all the way in use a long screw driver to push the bowden cables all the way back to the stops. Reattach the bowden cable gearbox, close the roof and put the plastic bracket back in and reattach the headliner.
